HOME RENOVATION FOR NEWCOMERS

Home Renovation for Newcomers

Skilled Trades and Language Training and Settlement Services are partnering to offer a free 10-week Home Renovation Program for newcomers. This program is suitable for newcomers who are interested in looking for work in the home renovation or construction industry.  Home Renovation for Newcomers program is funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Program Details:

  • Start date: January 2025
  • Program length: (10 Weeks) - 30 hours/week
  • Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 3:00pm / full time in Burlington
 

                 

This program is right for you if:

  • You are a Permanent Resident or Convention Refugee 
  • You have achieved a Canadian Language Benchmark Level 6+ 
  • You are interested in working in the home renovation industry 

You will learn:

  • Job-specific language 
  • Home renovation theory & practice 
  • Hand and power tools used in the field 
  • Interior and exterior home renovation 
  • Comprehensive safety training 
  • Ontario building code 
  • Canadian building practices 
  • Job search tools & strategies 
  • Professional communication 

All participants receive:

  • Course material 
  • Tool kit 
  • First aid training certificate
