Enhanced Language Training | Pathway to Work

Centre for Skills offers specialized language training for newcomers preparing to enter the Canadian workplace. This course is designed to improve English language skills and prepare students for success at work.

The program will cover:

  • LinkedIn Profiles
  • Technology at Work
  • Customer Service & Soft Skills
  • Effective Communication Styles
  • Presentation Skills
  • Team Management
  • Meeting Protocols
  • Job Networking for Work

Material will include the workplace environment, Canadian corporate culture and the importance of developing cultural intelligence (CQ) in today’s multicultural workplace. Students will also be able to meet with a Career Specialist to learn how to create an effective cover letter and résumé, practice their interview skills, and get connected to employers who are hiring. Our Enhanced Language Training program will provide you with access to employment opportunities, professional mentorship and volunteer opportunities in Halton region.

Program Details:

Enhanced Language Training is a full time, 12-week program for Permanent Residents and Convention Refugees. 
Our ELT program is considered to be a 'full-time' commitment to assist students who are ready to find a job. In order to complete all required assignments and activities successfully, we do not advise taking other courses or working during your daytime or evening course hours."
For all our online classes, learners are expected to use a computer or laptop with a functional camera turned on during class.


Eligibility

  • Adult immigrants (18+) who are residents of Ontario
  • Permanent residents and convention refugees
  • Must have a valid and up to date CLB skill level assessment 4/5 + (if you do not have this, we can book an assessment for you)
