At Burlington Brewery, we are a vibrant craft beer brewery that hosts exciting live events every Friday and Saturday, featuring talented local bands and musicians. We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Sound Technician to join our team and ensure that every performance sounds its best.
Job Overview:
As a Sound Technician, you will be responsible for setting up, testing, and operating sound equipment for our live music events. You will work closely with the bands to ensure optimal sound quality, conduct sound checks, manage the soundboard during performances, assist with assembling and tearing down the stage, and act as a DJ when needed. You will also be responsible for protecting the venue's equipment and ensuring we are in compliance with decibel levels, acting on behalf of the company to safeguard our interests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sound Equipment Setup: Set up and break down all audio equipment before and after each event, including microphones, speakers, mixers, amplifiers, and instruments.
- Stage Assembly and Tear Down: Assemble and disassemble the stage before and after each event, ensuring that the area is ready for the performance and properly cleaned after.
- Sound Check: Conduct sound checks prior to the event to ensure all equipment is functioning properly, balancing sound levels, and adjusting channels for instruments and vocals.
- Live Sound Management: Monitor and control the sound system during live performances, adjusting levels as needed to accommodate the dynamics of the band and venue.
- Troubleshooting: Quickly identify and resolve any technical issues with the sound equipment during events, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted performance.
- Instrument Channel Box Management: Manage and adjust the instrument channel box to ensure each instrument's signal is clear and balanced.
- Collaboration with Bands: Communicate with performing artists to adjust sound levels according to their needs and preferences.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure sound equipment is properly maintained and stored to ensure it remains in excellent working condition.
- Event Preparation: Coordinate with event managers to understand the setup requirements for each band or performance.
- Protecting Venue Equipment: Monitor and ensure that sound levels are within acceptable decibel limits and comply with venue regulations. Act on behalf of the company to ensure equipment is protected from damage, including preventing sound equipment misuse or extreme volume levels.
- DJ Duties: When necessary, step in as a DJ to play background music or transition between live sets, ensuring a continuous and energetic atmosphere for the event.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Sound Technician or similar role in a live music or event setting.
- In-depth knowledge of sound equipment, including mixers, speakers, microphones, amplifiers, and instruments.
- Familiarity with digital and analog sound systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly and efficiently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work closely with bands, staff, and management.
- Flexible schedule, with availability to work evenings and weekends (Fridays and Saturdays).
- Ability to physically assemble and tear down a stage as needed.
- Ability to monitor and maintain safe decibel levels to protect both the venue's equipment and the comfort of guests.
