Before ELT, I wasn’t seeing the whole picture of what is settled in the Canadian workplace and culture. After I took this course, I feel more confident to achieve my goals as a newcomer and professional in Canada. I can say my key takeaways are: build a community by networking and volunteering, preparation for the opportunities is essential, and you have a great potential don’t be afraid to speak up and demonstrate your skills.

Definitely after ELT, I can say I am seeing the whole picture of what it is to look for a job in Canada effectively: what to expect in a workplace, how to show my skills, how to speak up — and most importantly, how to be resilient and accept changes and challenges more smartly during this journey.

And most importantly, I am not alone in this journey. I am walking with other newcomers who came to Canada with backpacks full of dreams and skills. Thanks to the ELT class I met incredible people, teacher Marcella, Centre for Skills staff, Ryan and volunteers, and classmates who helped me a lot to grow as a human being.
