Ready for Your First Job in Canada?
Many newcomers are ready and need to work in Canada. When close to completing a CLB level 4, it’s possible to get an entry level job, but often a newcomer’s confidence does not always match their desire to get a job. Well, here’s some good news. Our new program, LINC to Work (CLB 4) at Centre for Skills, can help!
This class is designed for newcomers who want to get their first job or volunteer position in Canada to gain experience and to improve English skills. The focus of this program is on practical English and vocabulary you will need in real workplace situations.
In this program, you’ll learn how to talk with supervisors and coworkers, ask questions, make polite requests, and understand common workplace instructions. You’ll also get practice in reading and writing simple emails, texts, job ads, job application forms, and basic safety signs and directions you’ll find at work.
Another important part of the class is learning about Canadian workplace culture. You’ll learn and practice common expressions, small talk, and the unwritten rules that people often don’t explain such as arriving on time, asking your supervisor for time off and what all those pay deductions are for!
In addition to our knowledgeable and certified instructors, you’ll also get the support you need from an Employment Settlement Specialist to help you create a resume and customize it for entry-level jobs in Canada. Our specialist will also connect you to job ads for jobs that match your skills and situation.
The goal is simple: to help you feel more confident and prepared when you apply for jobs and start working in Canada.
Are you in? We look forward to helping you!
