Skilled Trades Exploration for Newcomers

Hi Tracy,

I hope you’re doing well. I wanted to reach out and stay in touch, and also to say thank you for the Business English portion of the Machining for Newcomers program at the Centre for Skills Development.

You did an amazing job teaching the course, and I truly appreciate the time, patience, and effort you put into helping us improve our communication skills, especially in a professional and technical environment. Your lessons on email structure, vocabulary, tone, and workplace communication have been extremely helpful.

I also wanted to share an update — I’m currently working as an Automotive Service Advisor at Canadian Tire. A big part of my role involves speaking with customers, writing service notes, preparing work orders, and clearly explaining technical details. I notice myself applying many of the skills you taught in class, especially when it comes to writing professional messages and communicating confidently with both customers and technicians.

Thank you again for your guidance and support during the program. It has made a real impact on my communication and confidence in the workplace. I’m grateful for everything you shared with us, and I wanted to make sure you knew it is being put to good use.
