As an Industrial Millwright – Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP), you’ll play a key role in keeping Thunder Bay’s wastewater facilities running safely and efficiently. Our team is committed to protecting the integrity of environment by providing primary and secondary wastewater treatment, phosphorus and ammonia removal and sludge digestion for the City of Thunder Bay.  Education/Experience:

• Grade 12 or equivalent as per the Ministry of the Environment certification guidelines
• Journeyman Certification as a Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A)t in Ontario
• Must have proven practical experience in operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of machinery such as conveyors, pumps, piping, valves, compressors and other industrial machinery.

Skills/Abilities:

• Must be able to read and interpret engineering, construction and mechanical drawings
• Must be capable of issuing and accurately comprehending written/oral information and instructions
• Must be tactful and courteous with the public
• Must be reliable and capable of performing routine work with a minimum of supervision
• Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario Drivers License, or equivalent
• Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation Assets:
• Currently possess or be eligible to attain a Class III Wastewater Operator License for Wastewater Collection Facilities
• Currently possess or be eligible to attain a Class IV Wastewater Operator License for Wastewater Treatment Facilities

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Prior to an offer of employment, must successfully write and pass an Operator-in-Training (OIT) examination and be eligible to attain a Wastewater Operator OIT License for Wastewater Collection Facilities and Wastewater Treatment Facilities
• Within 3 years of hire, must attain and maintain a Class I Wastewater Operator License for Wastewater Collection Facilities and Wastewater Treatment Facilities
• Within 6 years of hire, must attain and maintain a Class II Wastewater Operator License for Wastewater Collection Facilities and Waste Wastewater Treatment Facilities
• Must be physically capable to perform the duties of the job and be willing to work weekends and shifts as required
• Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions and with wastewater
• Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
• May be required to provide a successful driver’s record (uncertified)
• Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
• Must attain and maintain valid Industrial Maintenance Technician Certificate
