A Shipper/Receiver pulls orders accurately in preparation for prompt shipment and verifies incoming shipments. Identifies and transports material normally using a forklift truck to and from storage areas, machines, and loading docks, into vans or on flatbeds. Responsible for the accuracy of shipping documents and verification with all open orders. Prepares records of receipt of incoming material.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Pull items from production and have them packaged and stored correctly
- Accurately pull and combine customer orders for shipping. Verify quantity and counts vs. documents
- Load and unload various transport trucks (closed van, flat bed, step deck, container)
- Maintain other shipping records such as goods returned, returnable pallets, etc.
- Inspect and verify incoming goods against packing lists and other documents.
- Unpack, sort, and route goods to their appropriate storage areas.
- Collects information for damage claims on in-transit damage.
- Maintain accurate inventory records
- Notify supervisor of any discrepancies
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITITES:
- Assists in warehouse maintenance.
- Packages orders for out-of-town shipments.
- Performs other duties and assignments as directed by management.
- Assist as a General Laborer when needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to follow instructions and directions in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift a up to 70 lbs
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures (Winter-cold and Summer-hot)
- Ability to operate a forklift
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum basic reading and math skills
- Minimum 1year prior shipping & receiving and forklift operation experience preferred
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:
- Forklift operator certification preferred but not required
- Must successfully pass in-house forklift training and certification
