Full job description 

  • This position operates on a weekly rotation of days (7am-3pm) and afternoons (3pm-11pm) shift basis and is eligible for shift premium. 
  • As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to submit a clear Criminal Record Check, at their own expense, prior to start date. 

 Responsibilities 

  • Operate vinyl presses to produce materials consistent with customer specifications while ensuring quality standards are met and adhering to all safety standards and regulations.
  • Read work orders and production schedules to ensure conformance to customer specifications. 
  • Set up, start and shut down machines (extruders, hydraulic and pneumatic presses) & monitor their operations, restocking materials as required. 
  • Consistently meet or exceed identified target attainment goals on a daily and monthly basis. 
  • Perform quality audits at point of manufacture. 
  • Perform routine general maintenance on machines and work area daily; maintain cleanliness of equipment and assigned production area at all times. 
  • Determine and report product and equipment malfunctions to appropriate parties; troubleshoot equipment malfunctions as necessary. 
  • Maintain a constant visual on parts produced and perform visual quality control audits. 
  • Ensure to work following all Company policies and procedures. 
  • Work collaboratively with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency. 
  • Targeted reduction in waste of all forms (time, materials, labour). 
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization (colleagues, supervisors and other departments). 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Team Leader or designate. 

Physical Demands 

  • Required to stand for long periods of time (duration of shift).
  • Involves repetitive motions for duration of shift; use of hands and wrist continuously in a controlled environment.
  • Engage in frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing and pulling of parts and part containers.
  • Due to the open environment of the warehouse, must be able to work in various weather conditions. 
  • Must be able to carry, push, pull or lift up to 50lbs occasionally. 
  • Adaptable to relative sound pressure levels. 

Requirements/Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Use of proper PPE while performing functions, CSA steel toed safety boots are mandatory. 
  • Must be willing to work all shifts & to work overtime as business needs require. 
  • Must be able to meet physical demands of the job. 
  • Excellent communication skills: written, electronic and oral. 
  • Must have strong attention to detail. 
  • Must be capable of working in stressful situations in times of need. 
  • Must be able to work well with others and in a team atmosphere. 
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
