Join our team as a Package Engineering Co-op Student and gain hands-on experience designing and developing industrial and recreational refrigeration systems. In this 12-month work term starting January 2026, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers to create 2D and 3D models, select components, and support system assembly and documentation. Ideal candidates are pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree, have a strong interest in refrigeration and thermal dynamics, and are confident using AutoCAD and SolidWorks in a manufacturing environment. 

This is an in-office co-op role based out of Burlington, ON, reporting to our Product Engineering Department.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Support mechanical design of refrigeration systems for industrial and recreational applications. 
  • Prepare 3D SolidWorks models and flow diagrams in AutoCAD based on jobsite and customer requirements. 
  • Establish design and operating conditions for system components. 
  • Confirm selections for pumps, compressors, motors, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and control valves. 
  • Design piping routes to refrigeration standards, optimizing for manufacturing and servicing. 
  • Create detailed manufacturing drawings and instructions. 
  • Prepare bills of material and issue requisitions using SAP. 
  • Supervise system assembly in the CIMCO manufacturing facility. 
  • Collaborate with internal departments, customers, and suppliers. 
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives. 

What You Bring: 

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. 
  • Strong interest in refrigeration and thermal dynamics. 
  • Experience using AutoCAD (2D) and SolidWorks (3D). 
  • Knowledge of refrigeration system design, preferably with ammonia-based industrial systems. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Goal-oriented mindset with strong time management and multitasking abilities. 
  • Familiarity with site construction techniques and practices is an asset.
