Job Title: IT Support Technician
Department: Administration
Location: On-site in Burlington/Halton region
Contract Length: June 29, 2026 to August 21, 2026 (8 weeks)
Schedule: Full-time (35 hours per week)
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm
Reports To: Senior IT Technician / Lead
Salary: $17.60 per hour
Reason for Vacancy: Current Open Position
These are your responsibilities:
-Maintain and troubleshoot computers and related equipment for all Centre for Skills’ programs and projects.
-Identify client support requirements and ensure team efforts are focused on providing end users with hardware and software support with appropriate company standard equipment.
-Assist with conducting inventory of all IT equipment and documenting all IT assets Install software and computer upgrades and workstation printing functionality.
-Re-image workstations as required.
-Provide staff in-service on the mechanics of hardware/software use as required.
-Participate in the development and monitoring of hardware and software standardization.
-Assist with telephone issues as required.
-Respond to task schedule as outlined by the Senior IT Technician/Lead.
-Other duties, as assigned, related to the smooth running of Centre for Skills technology.
What you bring to this job:
-Under Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) guidelines, to be eligible, applicants must:
-Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of their summer job.
-Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the job.
-Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
-Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow directions from manager and work as part of a team
-Excellent customer service skills; friendly, approachable and welcoming interpersonal style A+ Certification preferred.
-Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems (Windows 11) including troubleshooting, installation, imaging, networking, etc.
-Basic knowledge of Microsoft networking
-Hardware troubleshooting, repair, and setup (desktops and laptops)
-Antivirus installation – virus and spyware removal
-Experience with basic printer troubleshooting and repair
-Experience with password resets, voicemail setup, cell phone troubleshooting and updating documentation
-Ability to travel in within Halton and occasionally to Peel
-Past experience in a similar role will be considered an asset
