Hours of Work: Part-time (18 hours per week)
Reports To: Human Resources Manager
Start Date: May 2025
End Date: March 31, 2026

The HR Generalist plays an important role supporting the human resources team and all employees at Centre for Skills. This role is the main point of contact for front line employees and will manage a variety of HR activities while contributing to a positive and engaging environment.

These are your responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain successful working relationships across the organization to deliver HR best practices
  • Advise, guide and support staff, responding promptly to inquiries
  • Lead the recruitment process by working with managers to prepare and post jobs, conduct telephone screens, arrange interviews, check references, and prepare offer letters
  • Responsible for employee onboarding, including meeting with new hires, tracking required documentation and training, and keeping the onboarding presentation relevant and up to date
  • Collaborate on and support the implementation of HR initiatives such as employee engagement, rewards and recognition, health, safety & wellness, etc.
  • Develop appropriate human resources-oriented communications to the organization to promote employee’s understanding of programs, policies and practices
  • Update policies and procedures as required
  • Research employee professional development opportunities and arrange training
  • Provide administrative support including preparing employment letters, maintaining organizational charts, maintaining employee files, preparing surveys, etc.
  • Co-lead the Personal Leadership Committee (PLC), supporting the planning and execution of all staff meetings and events
  • Support the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC)


What you need to bring to this job:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources or a related field
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Leader (CHRL) preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Human Resources. Experience in not for profit / government funded models preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant HR legislation (Ontario/Canada)
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships and trust
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and drive HR initiatives
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and conflict resolution skills
  • Professional and cooperative teamwork approach, positive attitude, excellent customer service skills
  • Highly organized with ability to prioritize, plan and execute
  • Highly skilled using MS Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with Zoom / MS Teams. Knowledge of LucidChart or similar software an asset.
