Need a Commissioner of Oaths to apply for a passport, verify foreign language transcripts, verify translation of documents, sign official documents, and more? 

Get free assistance from Centre for Skills' Commissioner of Oaths with signing declarations regarding: Residency in Ontario.

  • Legal name changes and birth name correction

PATHWAY TO WORK - ENHANCED LANGUAGE TRAINING (ELT) PROGRAM

Join our daytime or evening classes to help you start working in Canada! 
•     AM 9:00 AM - 2:30 PM
•     PM 4:00 PM - 9:30 PM


Enhanced Language Training is a full time, 12-week program designed to improve English language skills and prepare you for meaningful employment in Canada. 

Materials include Workplace Environment, Canadian Corporate Culture and the Importance of Developing Cultural Intelligence in today's multicultural workplace. 

Meet with a Newcomer Career Specialist to learn how to create an effective cover letter and resume, to practice your interview skills, and to get connected to employers who are hiring! 


HOME RENOVATION FOR NEWCOMERS 

This is a 10-week hands-on skilled trades training for newcomers interested in working in the home renovation industry. 


PROGRAM DETAILS: 
Program length: (10 weeks)- 30 hours/week 
Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm 
Full time at our Burlington skilled trades workshop 

YOU WILL LEARN: 

  • Job-specific language
  • Home renovation theory and practice
  • Hand and power tools used in the field
  • Interior and exterior home renovation
  • Comprehensive safety training
  • Ontario building code
  • Canadian building practices
  • Job search tools and strategies
  • Professional communication

NEWCOMER CONVERSATION CIRCLES

We are currently running Newcomer Conversation Circles once a week, online in French, Ukrainian and English. These sessions are designed to help you:

  • Learn about life in Canada
  • Meet new friends and newcomers alike
  • Engage with your community
  • Build social connections
  • Learn about other programs and events available in your community
  • Improve your English conversation skills in a relaxed atmosphere
  • Build your speaking confidence and more.

Join our weekly Newcomer Conversation Circles (English, French, Ukrainian) for adults and seniors!

COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS 

We offer a variety of programs to improve newcomer inclusion in our communities and to build a network of organizations that support newcomers settling in Canada. 

We host information sessions on: 

  • Citizenship application and test
  • Accessing supports in the community
  • Gaining and improving computer skills
  • Mental Wellness with our Newcomer Support Coach

WORKSHOPS AND EVENTS 

We also offer a wide range of workshops and events to help you improve your knowledge of the Canadian workplace culture, your communication skills, and your job search and settlement in Canada. 
 

These programs are suitable for eligible candidates who are CUAET, Convention Refugees or Permanent Residents.
