Our Company
At Cedar Planters, we believe in hard work, good people, and doing things the right way. We’re one of Canada’s Top 10 Fastest-Growing Companies, but we haven’t forgotten where we came from: hands-on work, teamwork, and pride in every piece we build.
We’re a sustainable manufacturer with a simple mission: make great products, treat people right, and never cut corners.
Job Overview
This is a hands-on, physical job. It’s perfect for someone who’s not afraid to sweat a little and takes pride in an honest day’s work. On our assembly line you’ll be part of a crew that gets things done and looks out for one another. If you like working with your hands, being part of a solid team, and seeing what your work creates at the end of the day, you’ll fit right in here.
How Our Line Works
We run a traditional assembly line. Raw wood comes in at one end and finished; packed product goes out the other. Every station handles one stage of the process:
- Prep: Getting the raw lumber ready, checking boards and setting up material for the line
- Cut: Cutting pieces to size, accurately and consistently
- Sort: Grading and organizing cut pieces so the next station has exactly what it needs
- Build: Assembling components into finished products
- Pack: Inspecting, packing and preparing orders to ship
You’ll typically work at one or two stations during a shift and focus on doing those steps well. Depending on your role and production needs, we may move you to other stations, so you’ll get the chance to learn different parts of the line. Every station matters, because the whole line depends on each step being done right.
What the Work Is Like
- You’ll know exactly what to do. Each station has a clear, defined task. There’s no guesswork or juggling ten things at once. You learn your role, get good at it, and own it.
- Repetition builds mastery. You’ll do the same motions many times a day. You get into a rhythm, the day moves quickly, and you get faster and more precise over time.
- You’ll have a steady home base. You’ll be standing at your station for most of the shift instead of running all over the shop. It’s a set spot with your own tools and setup, and a steady pace.
- You can learn more of the line. When production needs it, you may rotate to other stations. That means more variety, new skills, and a better understanding of how the whole operation fits together.
- You’ll see results. At the end of every shift you can see exactly what the crew built together.
