Salary: $18.00 starting, $19.00 after 3 months

Hours: 40 hours a week, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with a 1-hour unpaid lunch

Benefits: Benefits after 3 months and pension after 1 year.

Please note: Georgetown has no transit system, therefore someone local is best suited.

SUMMARY

This is an operations/production function requiring general product knowledge, where further product knowledge will also be developed, and involving significant amounts of physical labor. Work is performed under minimal supervision in a cross-functional team environment.

An employee in this position will work in various areas based on needs and receives picks, packs, ships, and delivers ensuring all required shipments accurately and expediently to meet or exceed expectations while continually decreasing the rate of nonconforming shipments by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities may include the following (please note that the following examples are intended only as illustrations of the work performed in the position.   • Review documentation and special requirements for Incoming Receiving and Outgoing Customer sales orders
  • Inbound materials for compliance with purchase order requirements, and places nonconforming or defective products in a quarantined area for final disposition. Documents and logs in computer system the factors leading to the quarantine or refusal of inbound shipments.
  • Outbound materials for compliance to Work orders, shipping orders, and return authorization forms to determine the items to be moved, collected, or distributed. Records and enters data into computer system using bar code technology ensuring accuracy of information.
  • Accurately sorts and places products on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, style, product code and location code. Specialty items for specific customers to be placed in staging area for verification and order picking.
  • Machines pipe products to the specifications stated on work orders, shipping orders and/or purchase orders.
  • Review traceability documentation (MTRs) to ensure that inbound / outbound product specifications conform to accompanying test documentation. Fulfills documentation requests for safety, quality, and traceability documentation.
  • Conducts Cycle Counts on stock products to ensure conformance to company standards, when instructed or when nonconformance is expected.
  • Proper training and use of equipment in Pipe Shop such as saws, threaders, groovers and cranes.
  • Loads and unloads company, vendor, and customer trucks, utilizing fork trucks when required.
  • Occasionally operates delivery vehicle to transport items to and from customer and/or vendor locations, performing the duties of a Driver.
  • Prepares parcels and all required documentation for shipment via third party carriers and informs them of shipments awaiting delivery.
  • Attends all company and team meetings as required.
  • Other duties as duly assigned.

  • Reporting of near-misses, accidents and risks.
  • Proper use of personal protective equipment to minimize personal injury.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate, effective team player.
  • Experience in MS-Office or equivalent. Experience in enterprise resource planning an asset.
  • Fluency in English, both written and speaking.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent or a minimum of three months related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.

SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Basic math skills ability to calculate data in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Basic computer skills. Experience in enterprise resource planning (ERP) an asset.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with tight timeframes.
  • Ability to move up to 50 pounds and occasionally move up to 100 pounds.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • A minimum class “G” driver’s license is required. Approved training and/or official certification for operation of powered counterbalance fork trucks.
