Permanent, Full-time Rotating 8-hour shifts with shift times 7am–3pm; 3pm–11pm; 11pm–7am (40hr per week)
Salary: $20.00-21.00 per hour

Scope:
The Assistant Operator Extrusion & Winding/Slitting assist the Operator in operating a state-of-the-art extrusion-lamination line and winding/slitting equipment in our 24/7 production operation in Beamsville, ON, working 12-hour continental shifts or rotating 8-hour shifts.
Role:
The Assistant Operator’s role is to assist in the operation of an extrusion-lamination line and winding/slitting equipment with focus on Safety, Quality and Productivity. The Assistant Operator is accountable for packaging, winder operation (e.g., master roll removal), changes of fabric master rolls, providing supplies, keeping the work area clean, etc.
Core areas of responsibility:
Able to assist in the safe and efficient operation of production equipment, including but not limited to:
Extrusion-Lamination Line:
- Assist with start-up of production line (extruders, unwinders, flexo-printer, winder, etc.)
- Assist with operation of winder and unwinders (e.g., master roll changes)
- Assist with operation of edge trim grinders
- Assist with operation and cleaning of flexo-printer
- Clean up spills
- Assist with maintaining edge-trim collection system (i.e., change collection bags, etc.)
- Assist with shutdown of production line (purging resin to prevent thermal degradation inside machine, cleaning of flexo-printer to prevent ink from drying on Anilox roll, etc.)
- Assist with cleaning extrusion die lips with appropriate brass tools as required
- Assist with product change over (e.g., width change, single/double-sided lamination, etc.)
Winder/Slitter:
- Assist with startup of winder/slitter
- Assist with master roll changes
- Assist with shrink film change for packaging machine
- Loading of cardboard cores
- Packaging product rolls, labelling product boxes
- Operate stretch wrap machine
- Raw material handling
Productivity
- Adheres to policies and procedures regarding workplace safety and environmental protection at all times.
- Wears all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and uses appropriate tools.
- Ensures a clean and organized workspace on their respective production line and all related areas. Takes pride in and maintains their clean work environment.
- Performs daily circle checks on fork-lifts and overhead cranes before use on their shift (if trained).
Qualifications:
Education/Qualification
- Secondary school graduate (e.g., high school diploma)
- Training and experience in plastics extrusion, or suitable educational background and sufficient experience with production equipment highly desired.
Work Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a production environment highly desired.
- Experience in working with automated equipment highly desired.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., Health & Safety Awareness for Workers per OHSA) highly desired.
- Experience with lift truck or overhead crane operation highly desired.
