Do you enjoy helping others but don’t currently have your PSW certificate? If this sounds like you, Acclaim Health is currently hiring Casual Companions to work flexible hours throughout the Halton area (Oakville, Burlington and North Halton).
Primary Functions:
- Supports patients/clients by providing in-home companionship and caregiver respite, supervision in the personal care, housekeeping, meal preparation, and/or pet care as required
- Driving patient/clients to and from appointments, social events and/or for errands
- Participates and collaborates with a multidisciplinary care team (including staff, patient and caregivers) in supporting the patient’s needs according to the patient’s care plan.
- Acts as an effective and professional liaison between the patient/client/caregiver and Acclaim Health office (including recommending referral to other Acclaim Health services as appropriate).
Position Requirements:
- Valid Ontario Driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Safe Food Handling Certificate is an asset
- Successful completion of Acclaim Health’s Companion Training Program (includes procedures for all client services, Gentle Persuasive Approach (dementia related education)
- Criminal Record check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Experience working with the elderly, ill or with children
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Effective observation and listening skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member
