Our expert team of building performance contractors is expanding, and we’re looking for and we’re looking for a Red Seal refrigeration mechanic to join us as an HVAC Technician. Opportunities are based out of Dartmouth or Sydney, Nova Scotia, with province-wide travel required to meet client needs.

Responsibilities:

This position focuses on the installation, maintenance, and servicing of heat pumps and related HVAC systems, ensuring optimal performance, safety and customer satisfaction. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Install, maintain, and repair residential and commercial.
    HVAC systems, including heat pumps, and air conditioning systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in refrigeration and HVAC equipment.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Handle refrigerants safely and in compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations and wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required.
  • Collaborate with electricians and other trades to ensure proper system integration.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with clients to explain issues, solutions, and maintenance recommendations.
  • Oversee and mentor apprentices, ensuring safe work practices, adherence to electrical codes, and the development of technical skills in a supportive learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
  • Travel to job sites across the province, including remote locations, as required.

Qualifications, skills and experience

  • Certified Red Seal Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic (required)
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Licensed Refrigeration Mechanic (required).
  • Valid Gas Fitter’s ticket (preferred)
  • Valid Provincial Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Strong knowledge of residential codes and practices
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines
  • Valid Provincial Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Willingness and ability to travel, including to remote sites

Working Conditions:

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:00AM-4:30PM (35-45 hours/week), occasional overtime is required
  • Working location: 100% on the road, with travel to various sites
