Job Title: Accountant

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm – Full-time (35 hours/week)
Reports To: Controller
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to support the financial operations of our organization. As the Accountant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of out financial systems.
These are your responsibilities:
Accounts Payable & Receivable
· Record and reconcile purchases, credit card transactions, and rent bills.
· Issue invoices for tenants, rentals, and services; process deposits and payments.
General Accounting & Reporting (QuickBooks)
· Maintain accurate records, accounts, and reports for new and existing programs.
· Prepare journal entries for payroll, rent, admin, pre-paid, and amortization expenses.
· Assist with quarterly reporting for the Board of Directors.
Claims & Compliance
· Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure financial accuracy
· Prepare and submit monthly program claims and annual grant claims.
· Process monthly HST rebates and related journal entries.
· Support audits, funder reporting, and compliance requirements.
Reconciliations
· Complete monthly bank reconciliations, payroll clearance, program revenue, and other accounts.
· Follow up on outstanding items to ensure timely resolution.
Support & Collaboration
· Leverage technology to create efficiencies and process improvements.
· Work closely with the Controller, CEO, Leadership Team, and Coordinators to provide timely financial information.
· Provide backup support for payroll and accounts payable functions.
· Respond to inquiries from staff, vendors, customers, and auditors.
· Assist with additional finance and administrative tasks as needed.
What you need to bring to this job:
· Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience
· Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit or funder-driven environment.
· Proficiency with QuickBooks (or similar accounting software) and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
· Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
· Excellent communication skills with a collaborative, service-oriented approach and positive attitude.
