About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Marine and Cargo Claims Representative to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in loss adjusting/assessing, conducting cargo claims inspections, and writing detailed claims reports. This role requires excellent administrative, filing, and customer service skills, with the ability to manage claims efficiently and professionally from notification through to settlement and filing and organizing data/docs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and process marine and cargo claims, including investigation, evaluation, and settlement.
  • Conduct on-site cargo inspections and gather relevant documentation.
  • Prepare comprehensive and accurate claims reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Coordinate with underwriters, loss adjusters, surveyors, and third-party service providers.
  • Maintain up-to-date claims records, ensuring all documentation is properly filed and organized.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service, providing updates and support to clients throughout the claims process.
  • Assist with claims data analysis and reporting for internal use.
  • Support general administrative duties within the claims department.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 3+ years of experience in marine and/or cargo claims, loss adjusting, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of cargo transportation, shipping terms, and relevant insurance policies.
  • Experience conducting site inspections and compiling detailed assessments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail in filing and documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and claims management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple claims simultaneously.
  • Customer-focused with a solution-oriented approach.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification or coursework in marine insurance, loss adjusting, or related fields.
  • Experience working with freight forwarders, shipping lines, or marine insurers.
  • Knowledge of international cargo claim protocols and maritime law basics.
