Job Summary:

We seek a passionate and dedicated Youth Support Worker to join our team and directly support vulnerable youth in a transitional housing setting.
The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing individualized care plans, promoting skill development and ensuring the safety and well-being of our program participants.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with vulnerable youth populations, strong communication skills, and a commitment to making a positive impact on youths.

Responsibilities:

❖ Develop and maintain supportive relationships with at-risk youth, fostering trust, respect, and empathy.
❖ Implement individualized care plans and contribute to their ongoing development and evaluation.
❖ Support youth in daily activities, including personal care, meal preparation, educational pursuits, and recreational activities.
❖ Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive support and address each youth's unique needs.
❖ Encourage and support youth in achieving personal goals, developing life skills, and building resilience.
❖ Maintain accurate documentation of youth progress, incidents, and other relevant information.
❖ Ensure a clean, safe and inclusive environment for all youth, following established policies and procedures.
❖ Act as a positive role model, demonstrating professionalism, empathy, and a commitment to youth development.
❖ Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
❖ Ensure the cleanliness and excellent maintenance of The Oasis House
❖ Perform other duties as assigned by the Youth Program Manager.
 

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in social work, psychology, or a related field is an asset.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with at-risk youth in a professional role or volunteer capacity.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with other professionals.
- Broad capacity to work independently with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of youth development principles, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction strategies.- Ability to establish trusting relationships with youth from diverse backgrounds.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain certification before starting employment.
- Satisfactory criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector search
