The Food Processing Machine Operator – Hard Candy is responsible for making batches of hard candy as per formulation, and ensuring product quality and food safety.

 Weighing and measuring ingredients as per formulations.
 Monitoring the automated cook kettles. 
 Operating the Mixer to incorporate flavour and colour into the sugar mass as required.
 Operating the Batch Kneader.
 Transferring the candy mass to the batch roller/rope sizer using trolleys.
 Monitoring the forming machines – ensuring product is being fed into the machine properly, ensuring the cutting is to specification, and to minimize waste.
 Visually inspecting product.
 Assisting/training team members.
 Cleaning work areas and equipment.
 Disposing of garbage/cardboard.
 Maintaining production records as required.
 Perform additional tasks as required. 

 Fast-paced production environment.
 Working in areas where machinery and forklifts are being operated.
 Daily exposure to strong odours from products being manufactured.
 High levels of noise in manufacturing area.
 WHMIS controlled chemicals used for maintenance, cleaning.
 Regulated inside climate.

 Cooker, Transfer Trolley, Batch Mixer, Batch Kneader, batch roller/rope sizer/forming machines, Feed elevator/conveyor
 Pump truck, electric walkie pallet truck (training required)
 Cleaning equipment (i.e. brooms, mops)

 Safety shoes (steel toes) are required in the plant.
 Hairnets, safety glasses, and gloves may be required for personal protection and/or quality assurance reasons.
 Security procedures require all employees to be screened for criminal convictions. 

 Ability to read and write in English /  Ability to communicate orally in English.
 Basic numerical ability (counting, addition, multiplication).
 Mechanically inclined: able to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment.

KNOWLEDGE (training provided)
 Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
 Knowledge of HACCP.
 Knowledge of Safety & Security procedures.

 Ability to work with minimal supervision.
 Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
 Strong attention to detail.

 1-2  years experience in a food manufacturing environment  a definite asset

 Completion of high school.

 Ability to communicate orally in English.
 Ability to stand for long periods of time.
 Mobility through manufacturing plant, around pallets, machinery and in the vicinity of lift trucks.
 Manual dexterity.
 Hand-eye coordination.
 Ability to perform visual inspection of products.
 Ability to lift up to 25kg.

 General learning ability and comprehension
 Ability to work on repetitive tasks 
 Ability to read and understand formulas and specifications.
 Attention to detail. 

Location: Oakville (Training at Etobicoke location until new Oakville facility opens - transportation costs during training may be provided )
Full time hours:   40 hours per week 
Salary: $17-$18 per hour
